 | The club was founded in early March by Nikki Kor and some of her friends. The paper was origanally called, “Newsies Times” since it was about the Newsies. The paper was only a joke until some people wanted copies and eventually subscribed to it. It was actually a cool idea, delivering it to subscribers’ lockers. But when more than 40 people wanted it we stopped delivering because it was too much of a hassle. |
| At first the paper wasn’t a club. Nikki and some of her friends went to the principal to be sure it was alright to be distributing the paper around the school. When they did talk to Mr. Deragisch he told them he talked to the editor of the Independent. He told Nikki to talk to Gustavo. |

 | When Nikki talk to Gustavo and he said the club could meet after school somewhere and he suggested the Computer Applications room. The next week Nikki Kor, Kim Homan, and Ashley Paluch went to a meeting with Dana Yost (the editor of the Independent). Now each week we publish a newspaper on Wednesday mornings. |
